Hotels gear up for Tet holiday
The Lunar New Year, or Tet, will be here in a couple of days, bringing joy and hope to people.
For this occasion there are many activities and entertainment programs around town to provide relaxation for people who have been working hard all year. Hotels introduce their services to lure customers who are looking for a place to unwind during the holiday.
Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon
The hotel’s Kabin Chinese Restaurant will prepare a New Year menu featuring traditional dishes. One dish, ‘Yu Sheng’ (New Year fish salad), is quite special because the sound of the word for fish in Cantonese sounds like the word for prosperity. On the first day of the New Year, there will be a Lion Dance performance in the lobby for guests to enjoy.
The hotel will offer three different set menus prepared by its executive Chinese Chef at Golden Phoenix Restaurant, featuring traditional New Year delicacies for guests to enjoy during this Tet, as well as an international buffet at Chit Chat café.
The hotel’s restaurant, The Grill, will celebrate the Tet holidays with traditional dishes including Chinese claypot, crispy Chinese BBQs, hotpots and traditional Vietnamese food such as sticky rice dumpling, Tet sweets and desserts. There will also be a lucky draw for guests to win a Li Xi Lucky Dip with prizes worth up to VND1mil.
Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers
Unlike other hotels celebrating Lunar New Year with food programmes, the hotel has set up a promotion for guests to relax after a hard working year at its Aqua Day Spa with “New Year Rejuvenation” including herbal detox compression, aromatherapy, Thai royal massage and zesty senses facial, to name but a few.
The Rooftop Garden Restaurant & Bar on the 5th floor will have a gala buffet dinner called “BBQ under the stars.” Furthermore, there will be a performance with music, entertainment and contemporary dance by Vietnamese artists, including a lion dance performed by the famous Nhan Nghia Duong group.
In another facility, Paradise Coffee Lounge has a program performing everlasting songs, or guests can enjoy a la carte and set menus Hoa Mai and Cung Dinh restaurants.
Omni Saigon Hotel
The hotel’s restaurant Cafe Saigon serves more than 20 traditional foods for Tet holidays such as braised pork with egg (Thit kho hot vit), braised pork knuckle with white bean (Gio heo ham), pickles and dried prawn (Cu kieu and tom kho), sticky rice cake (Banh chung or banh tet), to name but a few. Guests can also enjoy other dishes at restaurants of Lotus Court and Nishimura.
The hotel’s restaurant Nineteen will ring in the Lunar New Year with a buffet dinner called “Feast of the First Morning” as well as a buffet of fresh fish, seafood and Vietnamese traditional delicacies of Banh Chung and Banh Tet at the restaurant. Also on the menu for guests to enjoy are meat dishes such as roasted marinated baby lamb and roast beef.
New World Hotel Saigon
Like other hotels in town, the New World Hotel’s restaurants will
celebrate the Lunar New Year with traditional dishes designed in set menus, such as family or spring set menus. Additionally, the hotel’s chef will treat gourmets to a Chinese buffet featuring a Dim Sum trolley, noodles and BBQ. On February 17, there will be dragon and lion dances.
Park Hyatt Saigon
Square One Restaurant is preparing special traditional Vietnamese food on Tet holiday, including sticky rice cake with Vietnamese cold cuts and pickles and steamed rice paper rolls with seafood, to name but a few.
Sofitel Metropole Hanoi
The hotel organizes Lunar New Year’s Eve party in February 16 and the party to welcome the New Year from 11am in February 17 in Spices Garden Restaurant with a special menu of Vietnamese traditional dishes.
