” I live on good soup, not on fine words.”

…said Moliere, apparently.

A friend of ours hadn’t been feeling well in a while, plus Cait and I managed to get sick this weekend (nothing serious but enough to exhaust us), so of course, I thought of chicken soup. And fresh bread and raspberry flavored ricotta cheesecake. I love making stock. Almost more than I like making the actual soup, which is so easy by the time the stock is done. This soup wasn’t perfect (too murky, too much fat) but it was good.

I also needed sandwich bread, as I’d used the last of it over the weekend. These guys made me chuckle — I called them Lean Lewis and Wide Wally. No finished pictures of those — I just put them in the oven to bake!

My mom noted that I am living a life of luxury: homemade bread and soup. It’s funny how being on a very tight budget — and having all the time in the world, due the lack of a job — means I’m making food that most ppl can’t/won’t/don’t. Guess that’s the upside of my current situation!
